HKU drops places in Shanghai Jiao Tong Ranking

Well there we have it HKU has dropped in the rankings compared to last year's figures. HKU ranked unimpressively somewhere between 201 and 300 and behind the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

I'm sure that this one won't feature on the brochure but it begs the question of how there could be such a discrepancy between the QS rankings which put HKU at a very respectable 22nd place? Could there be a proxy war going on between the UK and China in determining the prestige of academic institutions?
